Frequently asked questions about broadband and home phone

Do I need a home phone to get broadband?

No. You can choose broadband on its own or broadband with a home phone. We offer both options, and we will help you choose what actually fits your home rather than bundling services you do not need. 

Can I keep my existing home phone number?

In most cases, yes. If you are switching your home phone to Home Unity, we can usually transfer your existing number as part of the switch. We will confirm this with you during the order process and keep you informed. 

Is the home phone service digital or traditional?

Most home phone services today are delivered digitally over your broadband connection rather than through a traditional copper phone line. We will explain how this works in plain English and make sure everything is set up correctly for your home. 

Do I need to contact my current provider?

No. Once you place your order, we handle the switch for you using Ofcom’s One Touch Switch process. We contact your existing provider, manage the switch and confirm your changeover date. 

Can I choose a call package or pay as I go?

Yes. We offer clear call packages and call rates so you can choose what suits your usage. If you rarely use your home phone, we will help you avoid paying for features you do not need. 

What if my needs change later?

If your broadband speed or home phone usage changes, you can speak to us and we will explain your options clearly. Our aim is to keep things flexible and easy, not to lock you into something that no longer fits. 

Do I need broadband for my phone to work?

Yes. As your phone service runs over the internet, you'll need a working broadband service for your phone to work. 

Will my broadband or phone go down during the switch?

Wherever possible, your broadband and phone service stays live during the switch. If any planned downtime is expected, we will tell you in advance so there are no surprises.
